Cosplay Progress: Wild Force

Ok so. G-Anime is in 8 days. My progress is going well. The boots, dress and belt are done. What is left: belt buckle, sword, baton and helmet. The helmet can wait and even the sword if I have to.

Sneak peek of my new Power Rangers Cosplay

Ok, so I've done 7 power rangers / super sentai cosplays. For the first convention of 2015, I'm going wild ;) you got the hint? Yup I'm going to cosplay a Wild Force ranger. I did not see the series, but I liked the design of the costumes and decided to make the White Tiger. 

For now, I've sewn the arms, one arm armor, the front of the dress and i just finished the crest.

Soooooo pretty. I'm very prpud of the results. The next step is to buy more fabric ^^' amd tp figure put how to make props. 

Convention update!!!

Man it was a busy Summer/Fall!! Here is my con report!

First off: Otakuthon: there was sooooooooo mannnnnnyyyyy people! Usualy, they have 9000 people attend, this year, I think it was around 15 000!!! Like usual, almost no one knows I was a Power Ranger. It's harder to be noticed when you have no helment. Only the TRUE BELIEVERS knew I was Magipunk and Jetman Yellow (Some even liked the small head pieces) I will post a Magipink pic soooon!

Second: MTL ComicCon. Always a huge convention, so fun to met up with friends! I wore my Magipink cosplay WITH helmet!!! on Saturday for the mascarade and on Sunday I was the Crimson Thunder Ranger from Power Rangers Ninja Storm. I got to meet Austin St-John, the original Red Power Rangers!!!! Fangirling all the way :) Also got to go to the Power Rangers Panel. So much fun! I missed the Stephen Amell, because of the mascarade..... disappointed! 

Third: The first edition of Quebec City ComicCon. I debuted my Anime Girlfriend/wife of Dr. Kreiger from the FX cartoon Archer. It was somewhat of a hit. I was with my boyfriend, he was dressed as Kreiger, great reaction. The guy who hosts Teletoon at Night in French kept staring at us, because I'm pretty sure he recognize characters from a TV show he presents! Un Sunday, I wore my Crimson Ninja Storm suit. I got to meet Ani-Mia and her boyfriend, really cool people! Her boyfriend was a stand in for the recent Poser Rangers Super Megaforce reunion show, he was SPD Green. He showed pictures of the set and costumes.... DROOL!!! Nice event, it was fun walking in Old QC, maybe I will go next year! 

Third: For the first time in Sherbrooke, we had a mini convection called AnimaraCon. Not much, it was mostly an opportunity to meet up with friends and to catch up. I participated in the first ever mascarade. My costume one a prize!!!! YUP my boyfriend won BEST HELMET for his work on the Magipink helmet. He TOTALLY deserved it!! Funny to think he is now a journeyman and I'm still a novice!

OK so next convention??? G-Anime in January! My cosplays? Wild Force White and maybe a Kigurumi of my own since I can't decide on buying one everytime I stop at the kigu booth.

WIP Power Rangers Mystic Force cosplay : shoulder armor

As you may know from I don't remember when I told you, I cosplaying the Pink ranger from Power Rangers Mystic Force for Otakuthon in Montreal. This is my first time making some kind of armor. The final product is pretty good looking for a first try. It is made with pink, black and gold spandex. There is interfacing to make it more rigid. All the gold trim is glued down because sewing it down wasn't giving the effect I wanted. Can't wait to see the final product. Need to do the boots and the sword.

I'm on the right path :)

I now have a cape! After 2 hours, because i like taking breaks and read ;), i now have my mystic cape!!!! Next on the list is the shoulder pads, boots, leggings and gloves.

WIP Jetman cosplay

Here is a look at my progress for my Jetman yellow cosplay. I've started doing the belt, so the first thing I did was to cut out the fabric. Putting that aside, I concentrated on the buckle. Usually my boyfriend does my belt buckles, but this time I wanted to try on my own. Just like for the SPD badges that looked pretty good if I say so myself ;) So here is the buckle with all the kicking and screaming from stickinh my fingers together with crazy glue and finding that the shapes were not matching...

I will have to fill the gaps with some wall filling and then paint in yellow and in gold. Like I said, I don't know when I will put this cosplay maybe for Nadeshicon or geekfest mtl or geekfest qc.

New cosplay challenge

Soooooooooo G-Anime is this weekend and as you may all know, i'll be cosplaying as Kakuranger / Alien Ranger white for saturday and I'm not taking part in the mascarade because I think my skills are not ready yet:

It's funny, because Kakuranger is my 4th PR cosplay and I made it because the people who recongnize me at convention as « that power rangers girl » asked me if I was going to make another color then blue ou yellow. and since I didn't want to make anything to hard because I wanted to make the helmet. UPDATE: the helmet I started was taken over by my boyfriend and it is much better and light years from my skills.

So since Kakuranger is done, I wanted to take another power rangers cosplay. And since I have tounes of yellow spandex, I decided to make this Jetman Owl cosplay in woman:

I know I'll be doing the Pink Swan because i just loved that costume. I know, i know I must change colors again, Jetman Owl is going to be my 3rd yellow ranger. So the fix this I will be doing Magipink/Mystic Pink for Otakuthon or Montréal ComicCon. The tricky part will be the cape and the shoulder pads, just like Jetman. Well, I have to level up my skills one way or another!! 

New Sentai Season 2014

With the new year coming, Toei just anounce the new theme for the 38th Super Sentai Series. In 2014, it's going to be about trains. (Insert i like trains  gag from asdf movie).Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger



As you can see, the yellow ranger is back. I've follwed some power rangers blogs and the thing that comes out the most is that the suits are to simple. The helmets work well with the theme for the season, but at little more details on the suit would be better, like so tracks or the special crossing lights. Anyway, in America it's the Gokaiger series starting, so I'm looking foward to Netflix.

The joys of making props

Hello! As you may know, I decided to tackle another Power Rangers cosplay: Kakyranger white or White Alien Ranger. I also decided to take on the helmet. As I said earlier, I'm using a tutorial from the Instructables website, here is the link:

Right now, i'm putting paper maché on the helmet, only 3 more layers to go! But I'm looking at my skeleton and I think it looks weird. If I compare my work with a PR photo, my helmet is out of proportions. It's not wide enough. I know, I know, I shouldn't be hard on myself, but I like it when I get it the first time ;) who doesn't. I hope I will learn from this experience. You know what, I already am learnig. Wowo the joys of prop making.

A first glimps!!

Première expérience G-anime!

Bon, bon, bon. Première expérience de convention hors MTL. Pour l'occasion, j'ai porté mon cosplay de Kira dans Power Rangers Dino Thunder. Lorsque je suis arrivé, j'ai décidé sur un coup de tête de participer à la mascarade. Vraiment, je n'étais même pas préparé, pas de musique ni de sketch à proposer. Je partais avec un désavantage.

L'expérience dans la green room, c'est spéciale! tu rencontres plein de gens et tu échanges sur les techniques de couture, de confection ou de fabrication. Vraiment une expérience enrichissante.

Moment de vérité: la parade. j'ai paradé sur le stage, j'ai même battu des ninjas! j'ai fais un peu d'impro, mais je savais qu'il manquait quelque chose... Le lendemain, lors de la remise des prix, j'avais un présentement que j'allais rien gagner, mais j'étais tout de même stressé! J'ai rien gagné (j'ai été teasé, je pensais gagner meilleur appliqué, mais non...) cette défait m'a motivé de participer à d'autres mascarades et de mieux me préparer!!!

J'ai aussi eu la chance d'avoir rencontrer Terri Hawkes, la voix de Sailor Moon des émissions de ma jeunesse sur YTV. J'ai assisté à son panel sur le métier d'acteur de voix. J'ai eu un autographe de sa part et une photo, vraiment un femme gentille.

C'est une expérience à refaire avec beaucoup de préparation!!!

Sewing Update

AS you may know, I recently challenged myself to make another Power Rangers cosplay. I chose Kira from Dino Thunder. Here is an update of the situation:

1. The outifit is done and gone!!! I tried it on a few time and I think the dress should have been shorter, but I can't do anything because all the decals are on.
2. I have to redo the gloves, at lest the right hand because my index finger is going to hate me....
3. My boyfriend is making the belt buckle and the hand guards. He is almost done.
4. The belt and the wrist bands are done
5. The boots are painted, but not yellow enough... WHY? I didn't have enough primer and got lazy so I decided to paint anyway...
6. Only the boot bands have to be done for next week, because on the 25th it's Gatineau for G-Anime!!!!

So my next project is not cosplay, even if I plan to make a SPD Yellow or Pink in the future. I'm making a summer dress with polka dot!!!! I saw by accident that polka dots are in fashion this Spring, well great for me!!

Did you ever notice???

I'm calliing fans of Power Rangers/Super Sentai and Sailor Moon like myself. After watching episode 45 of Sailor Moon, I've notice something weird on Amy and it made me think..... She is wearing a shirt with a symbol resembling the Dairanger symbol. The anime SM aired from 1992 to 1993 and the DAirangers in 1993. Both shows are from Toei Company. It may mean nothing, but I like the little easteregg ;)

They made a live action Sailor Moon in the genre of Tokusatsu. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

Comic Con is just over and here are my cosplays: Friday: Flo, the progressive girl. Saturday: Power Rangers Ninja Storm. Sunday: Princess Bubblegum. So much  fun, so much merch!!!
